Shopping in Charlottesville

Although Charlottesville may not seem like a very "ethnically diverse" place compared to most large U.S. cities, it does pretty well for its size. Some Jewish foods and other items can be obtained locally, so we have attempted to compile a guide to local resources for "Jewish Stuff." It is by no means comprehensive. Let us know when you find something that should be added.

See also the guide to Kosher food shopping.

Shopping for Jewish Stuff

Shabbat Candles
The
CBI Gift Shop carries small boxes of Shabbat candles, as do several grocery stores in town. It is sometimes difficult to find large boxes (72 candles) in the grocery stores, but the CBI Gift Shop usually has them in stock.

Gifts/Jewelry
In addition to the
CBI Gift Shop, Quilts Unlimited has a large assortment of Judaica: artwork, plates, candlesticks, mezuzot, jewelry, etc. Lynne Goldman Studios carries some Judaica jewelry designs.

Online Shopping
For items that are not available locally, there are online sources:
Artistic Judaic Promotions - Judaic art, jewelry, Ketubahs, etc. from American and Israeli artists.
JewishMusic.com - Jewish music CDs, books, toys, etc.
Kosher.com - Kosher foods, gift baskets, etc.

A Place for Kosher Food in Charlottesville
Kosher products, including several meat choices, are now available in a most convenient way! And the quality of the products and service is exceptional. www.RelayFoods.com is an online grocery service, offering groceries from local stores, individual providers, restaurants and farms. Order at your leisure from your home computer, pay by credit card and schedule a pick-up at one of more than a dozen locations throughout the Charlottesville area. You can also have your groceries home-delivered for a small additional fee. Prices are the same as if you purchased at the source, no mark-ups, but no coupons, either. Try it!
