Caring Committee

The mission of the Caring Committee is to provide support and assistance to members of our Jewish community who are experiencing life transitions such as childbirth, illness or death. We have several ongoing programs, which include:

  • Celebrating the birth of a child with a gift to the parents
  • Expressing condolences to bereaved families and assisting with shiva arrangements
  • Visiting hospitalized members of the community who would like a visitor
  • Visiting Jewish patients from out of town, including helping Israeli patients feel welcome with visits and assistance from Hebrew-speaking congregants
  • Assistance with rides to the doctor or to CBI or community events, to help members of our community be involved and connected
  • Providing information about comunity resources to meet more long-term needs

Our dedicated volunteers include the Caring Response Team, a group of volunteers who are contacted by e-mail when there is an immediate need, and the Hospital Visitation Committee, which rotates visits to people in the hospital.

Requests for help or inquiries regarding volunteering with the Caring Committee should be directed to the Caring Committee. The work of the Caring Committee is held in confidence.
