From the Membership Chair

We're so glad you are interested in joining CBI. Our congregation is proud of its heritage as a Charlottesville landmark and the focal point of a dynamic, diverse and growing Jewish community. A Reform synagogue, CBI embraces the broad range of Jewish observance. Friday evening services follow the Reform prayer book while Saturday morning services follow the Conservative tradition. See Worship at CBI for more information, and visit the CBI Calendar for a schedule of services.

Congregation Beth Israel offers educational opportunities for all age groups. Preschool, religious school, Hebrew and Bar/Bat Mitzvah training provide our children both religious and cultural Jewish identity. Adult education opportunities are available for the entire congregation. See Lifelong Learning at CBI for information and class schedules.

CBI provides a number of opportunities for congregants to engage in community and social action activities. Youth groups allow young congregants to interact in social settings. Check out the CBI Calendar for a snapshot of currently scheduled activities for all ages. Charlottesville Jewish Community Resources provides information on committees, opportunities to volunteer and local Jewish organizations.

We look forward to having you and your family join our community. Should you have any questions, please feel free to contact me or any member of the Synagogue Board of Directors. To join, simply fill out a Membership Commitment form and New Member Application form and mail them to:

Our policy is that no one will be denied membership because of inability to pay dues. If you need an adjustment in your dues or would like to arrange installment payments, please contact our Executive Director, Kathryn Mawyer. All dues arrangements will be kept in strict confidence.

Sincerely,
Susan Rozan, Membership Chair
