Prayer of Reconsecration
Eloheinu V'Elohei Avotenu V'Imotenu, Our God and God of our ancestors, You through whose light all creation issues and subsists, with all our hearts we thank You for this sacred scroll, this shining oracle, which now comes to illumine our synagogue and our lives. With Your divine help we will guard this sacred treasure. May its presence remain among us, a lasting memorial to the martyrs of our people in the tragedy of the age. Before the throne of Your universal and everlasting love, may the souls of the pious whose eyes once scanned this sacred scroll, be bound up in the bond of life. O God, who knows the way of all children, bless all those who have labored for the rescue and restoration of the sacred scrolls of which this sacred scroll is one. And now, O Eternal One, and in the long years to come, may our contemplation of this sacred scroll enlighten our eyes and fire our imagination, that we may more zealously serve humankind, and glorify Your holy name. To these ends we reconsecrate this sacred scroll, for memorial in Congregation Beth Israel. O God, bless our purpose, and accept our humble praise.- Rabbi Daniel Alexander
